I've been experiencing problems with my PC lately, especially during intense gaming sessions. The system would suddenly shut down and restart, often right after launching a game. Initially it was erratic, but now it crashes immediately when starting a game. Star Citizen is the most affected, while games like League of Legends or Minecraft run smoothly. I've checked my RAM, drivers, updates, and even swapped out different amounts of memory, but the issue remains. I've ruled out the power supply as the problem started after a week of stable use, so I thought it might be related to the PSU. However, I still have the same symptoms. I've tried various RAM configurations, but nothing helped. I bought a new motherboard and RAM kits without resolving the issue. The situation is getting worse, and I'm concerned about the stability now.

I need at least an 850W power supply to work with the RTX 3080. You mentioned the whole setup stops when running heavy games? The RTX 3000 is famous for its 600W surge, which can overload a power supply’s safety features.

High-power CPU and GPU paired with a 750W power supply unit causing this issue.

It's possible the power supply unit has worn out over time, even if you haven't noticed any issues.

A PSU operating between 50-70% capacity lasts longer than one running at 80-90%. Additionally, frequent shutdowns due to overheating and sudden GPU spikes can quickly reduce its lifespan.

Certainly! Just another 100 watts should suffice.

I’d just take a 1000W unit since GPUs won’t become much more energy-efficient soon.

I noticed the power supply you're using. Should I process a return if needed? Also, I'm using three monitors and haven't enabled any overclocking.

Perhaps it could work well for you. One of the top SFX PSUs available lets you manage that configuration comfortably. I've used it with a 5800x/3090 overclocked for nearly two years. It's disappointing when folks assume the power rating alone is enough without checking first. No product is perfect, though—issues can arise. You could cap the card at 80% in Afterburner and see if the games run again?

I attempted the 80% setting but it shut down immediately. It's a bit unclear what to do next.
