Hello everyone, I recently upgraded my system from 1607 to 1703 and it has been quite problematic. Alt-tabbing causes stuttering, and even basic Windows actions like opening Chrome seem affected. The NVIDIA Shadow feature is also gone, showing a red strike on the recording icon. I've tried reinstalling NVIDIA GeForce Experience, updating GPU drivers, turning off game mode and DVR, but nothing seems to resolve the issues. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Performing a clean installation of Windows during a major upgrade is always advised. It can be challenging, but the results are worth it. Occasionally it succeeds, other times it fails. Remove the old Windows setup using Disk Cleanup. Scan for registry issues with Ccleaner. Defragment the storage drive. Run DDU cleaner to remove GPU drivers, then obtain the latest installation file from Nvidia and install it. Eliminate any unwanted files with ADWCleaner before removal. If your system uses an HDD, defragment the C drive after completing these steps. For SSDs, skip the defragmentation process.

I've resolved the shadowplay problem. Please review my comment in that discussion thread. With the latest update, you should download the relevant media feature pack from the provided link. Also, let me know your Windows version.

I attempted to add the media feature pack (1703), but encountered the message: "Windows Update Standalone Installer, The update is not applicable to your computer."

Have you attempted to remove your NVIDIA drivers, restart your system, and install the newest versions? Ensure every driver is completely updated and Creators Update is enabled. Also, verify if you’ve run any additional Windows Updates after the upgrade. Confirm all your applications are installed from the Store (Store > Click the profile image next to the search box > Downloads and Updates > Check for updates).
