I've been using hybrid sleep on both my desktop and laptop for years and it's consistently functioning. However, over the past couple of months it's stopped working on my desktop. When you activate sleep in the Windows 10 start menu with hybrid sleep enabled, it should save your current session into RAM and then shut down. After restarting, it's supposed to continue from where it left off—either from RAM or from the disk if power was lost. This process has always worked until recently. Recently, it only restarts once after a reboot, sometimes again, but after that it fails completely. Instead of shutting everything down, the keyboard volume wheel turns red (mute), the screen stays on but is silent, and the mouse unmutes when you touch it. It no longer powers off the computer, mouse, keyboard, or screen. Finding a solution has been difficult because any advice about power plans or disabling hybrid sleep hasn't helped.

Driver problem. Usually, the system won't wake up after sleep, it stays in sleep but never enters it, and Windows just hangs forever. In the traditional setup, makers haven't really focused on testing sleep/hibernation, which makes things uncertain. You might try some checks: launch Command Prompt with admin rights, type and run: cd c:\ powercfg -energy A report will be saved as an HTML file in C:\. Click it to view it in your browser. Use Event Viewer to look for errors or warnings. Check Device Manager to ensure no device is disabled or missing its driver. This is often a solid starting point.

I reviewed the energy-report and noticed two major issues related to uTorrent. Instead of just keeping it in the system tray, I tried terminating it completely and successfully entered sleep/hibernation multiple times now. However, I’ll need to monitor over the next few nights to confirm if the problem remains. It’s unusual for uTorrent to cause this after more than ten years of use, so I’m hoping it’s the root cause. This would make fixing it a straightforward solution.

I've verified that uTorrent is the issue, thank you for your assistance. I checked the settings but didn't find anything that explains the problem. The "Prevent standby if there are active torrents" option seems irrelevant since it doesn't affect whether torrents are paused or not. Since I can't reset everything without losing data, I'm looking for a workaround to fix this without wiping and reinstalling uTorrent. Preserving my list and metadata is important for organization.
