I own a new 5120x1440 Ultrawide screen with picture-by-picture functionality. I’m connecting two devices—my gaming rig and my work laptop. My gaming rig runs perfectly with the monitor, changing to 2560x1440 in PBP mode. The work laptop displays clearly at 5120x1440, but when I enable PBP it keeps its original size and the image appears compressed to half its width. My laptop is a Dell Precision 5540 with Intel graphics. After checking online, I downloaded Intel’s Graphics Command Center and set Display Scaling to Custom, but this caused the entire display to malfunction and required a restart to restore normal operation. Following a suggestion from a Reddit user, I discovered the maximum supported resolution for my setup (connected via USB-C dock to the monitor through DisplayPort) is 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz with 24-bit color. This means my current display doesn’t technically support that resolution, yet it still works at 5120x1440. I’m wondering if adjusting settings or using a different method could help PBP mode function properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The problem was with my USB-C dock. I purchased a DP to USB-C cable to bypass the intermediary, and it now functions perfectly.
