Hello, Your Steam desktop check appears to run frequently, even without updates. There seems to be no built-in option to disable it entirely, though manually skipping the check once a week might help. Switching to an SSD could improve performance, but it didn’t resolve the issue. Let me know if you'd like further guidance!

I'm not included in the beta and face similar issues. I see that Steam frequently updates, which can be frustrating.

Changing to an SSD might affect performance, but since you're updating software rather than playing a game, the speed improvement comes from the drive itself, not the download process. For better results, consider upgrading your internet connection.

The connection is unstable with frequent drops. You mentioned you want to avoid automatic fixes and only perform manual actions weekly. Let’s explore ways to stabilize it.

Avoid relying on online connections constantly. The Steam client needs updates to function properly. Setting it to start automatically means you won’t notice the changes. My device works almost instantly—under 20 seconds—and I can open Steam right away without any hiccups.
