Latest bio regarding motherboard for new CPU
I plan to assemble a new computer using one of the latest GPUs paired with the upcoming AMD CPUs. I believe it will perform well as expected. Since I’m not far away, I’ve begun looking for good deals. Today, a website is offering the B550 Tomahawk at a 25% discount. From what I know, this board should work with newer CPUs after a BIOS update. Is this a straightforward solution that’s worth the effort? Or would it be better to just purchase a motherboard that already supports the new CPUs when they’re released? I also want to mention that I don’t currently have an AMD CPU, so I can’t install the board yet.
The B550 Tomahawk allows BIOS Flashback functionality, enabling you to update the firmware directly on the device without needing a Zen 2 processor.
The B550 tomahawk allows BIOS updates even without a CPU, according to @Mateyyy. Currently, motherboards appear limited, so it might be wise to avoid waiting until the release date. You can still obtain a 3700x or similar model if Zen 3 isn't worth the price.
Sure! I can explain it clearly. You simply connect power, enable the internet connection, and then press a button to activate the device.
Insert the USB drive with the BIOS, connect the 24-pin and 8-pin EPS connector, then flash the BIOS without using a CPU.
Essentially, you must upload the newest BIOS file onto a FAT32 USB stick, connect it to the BIOS flashback slot, and press flashback. No processor needed. (Also, make sure to power the motherboard on).
