You can use your Ryzen 5 3600 with the Asus ROG X470 without needing the older CPU for BIOS updates. The newer motherboard supports the newer processor directly.

Typical boards released after Zen 2 include a BIOS that is more recent than the one needed for Zen 2. Make sure to look at the documentation to confirm. Older models are likely to have outdated BIOS versions.
