Hi, I just received a Coolermaster Masterliquid 240 V2 from a friend and wanted to install it on my PC. I followed all the steps and when I first turned on the system, the idle temperature was only 75 degrees. I double-checked the thermal paste and CPU placement, everything looked fine. I connected the 3-pin connector to the CPU_FAN header and linked the two radiator fans to SYS_FAN, but neither worked. I also tried reversing the connections without any changes. Both times I set them to full speed in BIOS. My CPU is an i5 4670 and the motherboard is a Gigabyte B85 HD3. Thanks!
Confirm the attachment of the CPU AIO cooler and verify if the pressure is correct. Did you perhaps skip tightening part of the bracket?
It seems the CPU or cooler connection might be failing. Even without coolant moving, it shouldn’t reach 70°C during a cold boot if installed correctly. Try touching the CPU or listening for any movement—it should vibrate slightly and produce sound.
I first installed it and noticed the temperature dropped, which allowed the thermal paste to spread properly on the CPU and cooler. I secured all the bolts as firmly as possible. As the temperature increased, the cooler became warmer, but I didn’t notice any vibrations, just as expected.
Your fan headers may not supply enough current for the pump. A custom pump header on your board could require up to 2A, whereas typical headers cap at 1A. Note: you might trigger an alarm if the CPU fan isn't reporting correctly. Edit – July 23, 2023 by leclod
I didn't realize what that part was. Where can I locate this special pump header? The tubes seem chilly, like the inside of the case—like a GPU running at 26°C when idle.
