You're considering moving from a 3000 MHz setup to a 3600 MHz one with two 8-core CPUs. The latency difference between 17 and 18 CAS latency matters because it affects how quickly your system can access data, especially when running multiple cores. A higher CAS latency means slower memory access, which can impact performance in tasks like gaming or multitasking.

The variation in performance remains relatively small. Should the cost gap be significant, it’s better to skip it and adjust settings manually in the BIOS.

The variation equals one over frequency multiplied by seconds.

At 3600 the optimal CL is 14. 16 is acceptable, while 17 and 18 are problematic. You'll definitely perceive the distinction between CL14 and CL18, both in GTA V and during synthetic tests.

Because it's a DDR setup, the formula simplifies to 1 divided by (frequency divided by two) multiplied by the cas value.

These options are prohibitively costly. Opt for 3600 CL16 or consider 4000 CL18/19. A Patriot Viper Steel 4000mhz would be ideal.
