I recently enhanced my computer with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a GTX 1660 Ti. Initially, I faced unexpected shutdowns during demanding tasks. I believed the problem stemmed from an old 450W PSU. After some schoolwork, I powered it off and left it on. When I returned, it spun the fans and displayed RGB lights but produced no video output. I didn’t interact with the machine between those sessions. Upon inspection, my cooler (Wraith Stealth) wasn’t securely fastened on one side, so I reattached it correctly. That fix didn’t resolve the issue. Occasionally it reached BIOS, other times not. Once it got to the desktop, it froze and failed to respond. Now it spins fans and lights but does nothing. What could be causing this? Edit: I also upgraded my motherboard. Before the upgrade, I used the GPU briefly, and it functioned properly. The system operated well for a week or two before the boot failure began. Edited March 27, 2020 by OllieCS80

It seems the chip probably failed due to excessive heat while the heatsink wasn't secure. To be cautious, I recommend returning the board and CPU for replacement.

Hey there! Here are your details—feel free to share them. I recommend clearing the CMOS and confirming you have the newest BIOS for your motherboard. That’s the initial step. Make sure all BIOS configurations are set to defaults, and disable features like DOCP or auto OC if needed.

I’m having trouble finding the bios there. It looks like the PSU might be listed, but I’m not 100% sure. I think it’s an 80+ bronze 450W Evga non-modular unit.

No, I haven't cleared the CMOS before attempting to access the BIOS.

Remove the battery from the board for roughly five minutes, ensuring no power remains connected. Afterward, place it back in. Make sure all power is turned off before doing this. Then wait five minutes, insert the battery again, and restore system power completely. Observe the changes. You may need to adjust the system clock/time afterward, which can be handled within the OS once you're logged in.
