Hey, I understand Civ 5 is a CPU-heavy title, but I haven’t found any benchmarks for late-game turn changes. If you own an i7 processor (and a GTX 980 or higher) and have played Civ 5, Stellaris, or Hearts of Iron 4, could you let me know your average FPS during late-game turns? Right now on my Mac Pro 2013, these games feel very sluggish—often under 10 FPS, sometimes much lower. I’m planning to upgrade to a GTX 1080 Ti soon, but I also have an i7 5820k. I’d love to hear how Civ 5 performs with that setup.
My device runs smoothly at 60 FPS consistently. Performance drops only in late stages when you trigger a new action, causing a brief slowdown of around five seconds.
A late-game decision usually requires just a few moments, though it can feel frustrating and difficult.
On an eight-player map, a single turn can last around 25 seconds, reaching up to 45 seconds for more intricate routes. (About 250 turns in total)
In those 45 seconds of turning, I maintain 60 frames per second, except possibly for a few moments where the rate drops slightly. (There are sometimes two brief interruptions within that time, though they're rare.)
