Afternoon everyone. I just purchased an MSI Z790 Meg Ace Max from Jawa. I got it today and saw that the M.2_1 Frozr cover with the screwless removal wasn’t properly fastened to the board. The post or clip that was pressed into the board came out, and the lower part of the mount was bent. It looks like the previous owner didn’t follow the instructions and tried to open it by pulling the latch. The motherboard was described as new in perfect condition with no issues, and the seller mentioned he opted for a different setup. My worry is that the post got damaged when it was removed. Can I reattach that clip to the board? It only secures the heat sink on top of the drive. The end of the heat sink has pins that connect to the board’s socket powering the RGB on the Frozr cover. Should I return it, or is there a way to fix it? I know there are four other M.2 slots available, but I’d prefer not to use the PCIe 5x4 slot to keep all the PCIe 5x16 lanes in the PCIe 1 slot.

I managed to disassemble the M.2 mount and discovered the faulty pin was meant to connect to the lower section, not the board. It’s a straightforward repair using a JB weld. The situation was resolved quickly, and I finished the project in just a few hours yesterday.
