After much discussion on forums and benchmarking, I narrowed it down to two options. The first is a 10600k gigabyte Vision G with a 16GB VRM and 3600MHz CL18 chipset. The second is an ASUS Prime Z490-PSI Dark Za 16GB with a 4000MHz CL18 chipset. Both boards offer solid future upgrades thanks to their PCIe slots, USB ports, and SATA connections. However, I’m uncertain if the ASUS board can support the higher speeds of the 10700kf processor or the 5.3GHz overclock. I’d appreciate your thoughts on this.
I just upgraded my current i5 3550 z77x with 16GB RAM and a 1600MHz clock speed. I'm playing trio games like CSGO, GTA V, Warzone, ANA Battle Royale, Need for Speed Heat/Payback, Watch Dogs 2, and Cyberpunk 2077. I've edited the videos using Premiere and set them to 1440p/1080p at 60fps as requested. I'm considering overclocking the CPU but am not sure if it's safe on my ASUS MB motherboard.
I'm using a Core H100X and the thermal paste is working well, so I don't have much concern there.
for pure gaming the 10600k looks solid. the vision g offers great performance, and even the z490-p can manage higher specs like the 10900k. the tomahawk is marginally better than the vision g. if you're not focused on gaming, the 10600k should work well. for editing tasks, a 3700x is recommended.
The vision G isn't the issue; the Tomahawk offers better value at the same cost. If you're aiming for a more serious build, consider Ryzen—it currently supports up to 16 cores. Intel's lineup doesn't match that capability.
