I recently assembled a nice new PC but it’s still slow. Checked the setup. (Won’t have time to install many games) I’m consistently seeing 700-1200 ping in Fortnite. My main router is on the opposite side of my house, and I use a TP-Link extender in my room with Ethernet. I have £100 (about $120) to fix this issue. Should I replace the router or try something else? I’ve tried DNS settings, QoS adjustments, even moving the main router. The nearest server is in London, but matchmaking says I should be at 16 ping. My tests show around 14 ping. Please assist.

Verify if your area uses an uncommon wireless channel and look for interference with tools like inSSIDer (spectrum/strength analyzer). Opt for a direct connection if the issue lies with your current setup. Test ping to alternatives, such as Google DNS (8.8.8.8).

Elimina la conexión inalámbrica, probablemente la causa principal.

It seems like a vague point to make and a limited suggestion. I’d begin evaluating the extender next, since most of them replay signals on the same channel they pick up, which can lead to further disruption.

This should improve your connection speed and stability, but it may not specifically lower ping for gaming.

Wired links tend to offer better stability and consistency than wireless options. Wireless signals may be affected by nearby devices such as microwaves, competing networks, or electrical machinery, which can raise latency and reduce data speed.
