I purchased my initial laptop because I was against using them with a mouse. I believed all laptops came with touch screens by default. My assumption was that only high-end models had touch screens, yet the ASUS A516 (15.6") and Chromebook C523NA at £250 didn’t. I’m curious if anyone can clarify which laptops include touch screens. I’m satisfied with my choice but want more information.

Only a handful of standard laptops feature touch screens. You might be considering "hybrid" models where the keyboard is detachable or the display folds back, allowing it to switch between laptop and tablet configurations. These types of devices still include a touch screen.

When dealing with problems using a touchpad or trackpoint pointer on a laptop, switching to a mouse is the solution. Many compact wireless mice are available for this purpose. This makes operating a laptop more convenient.

Tablets typically feature touch screens. Most laptops do not usually come with touch screen capabilities, except in a few cases.

The Dell and HP pages refer to standard form factor touch screen laptops. The Lenovo page includes one convertible model. There are likely many others, but these are the main options.

Laptops generally fall into two categories based on their shape. The first type has a conventional clamshell design, while the second consists of 2-in-1 models. The main distinction lies in how the lids function: traditional laptops allow opening up to 180 degrees, whereas 2-in-1 devices often feature either fully rotatable or detachable screens, merging the features of a laptop and tablet into one unit.

2-in-1 laptops are designed to serve as tablets as well, so most come equipped with touchscreen interfaces. Traditional laptops typically lack touch displays, though exceptions exist such as Microsoft Surface Laptops, along with select Dell Inspirons, Lenovo IdeaPads, and HP Pavilions that include touchscreen options in their classic clamshell form.

Thanks for your assistance. I plan to receive a wireless external mouse. I dislike that current model.
