Hi. I'm used to using a PC and would find that mouse a challenge. I've looked at many cheap tablets but none have a mouse connection. Or an external screen. Am I missing something obvious?

For the mouse, a tablet or laptop just requires a USB connection.

I was considering the classic PS2. Regarding an external monitor, not in a hurry but I own a big screen.

Sure, just to clarify, if I purchase a USB mouse, will it automatically recognize it? And regarding the monitor, is there any converter available that can transform the D-Type Monitor cable into an HDMI cable? Thank you for your prompt and helpful responses.

Mouse detection should happen automatically. All my laptops support this.
"D-type monitor" refers to DVI?
Yes, HDMI to DVI cables are easily available.

The monitor connects to a 15-pin (3-row) D-type sub socket, the traditional type. I noticed a UK site stating it's a plug rather than a socket. Therefore, I’d likely need a female HDMI adapter or a converter to link plugs together.
This might work

Absolutely, there are adapters available for those as well.
For nearly any setup you can imagine, a suitable adapter exists.

Thank you for your message. I should have referred to it as a VGA plug instead of getting technical. The two links above should work fine. Appreciate it.
