Laptop often shuts down and CPU reaches maximum usage following a Windows reinstall
Initially shared it in troubleshooting, posting here just in case. Essentially, I recently reinstalled Windows 10 after experiencing a black screen during startup due to a GPU driver issue. However, after the reset, my laptop remains at maximum CPU usage while Task Manager shows processes at 0%. It also freezes intermittently shortly after launching. I've used my Dell Inspiron 7559 (i5 6300/GX 960/8GB RAM) with Windows 10 for a long time until recently, when GPU functionality stopped working in apps despite appearing in Device Manager. After reinstalling NVIDIA drivers, I left Integrated Graphics disabled in Device Manager and only restored it after restarting. The process involves repeatedly turning the laptop on and off, encountering a black screen with a loading symbol, then shutting it down. During troubleshooting steps, I cleared CMOS, reset BIOS to defaults, rolled back updates via Recovery, booted into Safe Mode, reinstated Integrated Graphics, and eventually resorted to a full reset. Hard shutdowns after freezes or black screens occurred repeatedly. Now I’m focused on backing up important files before a complete reinstall or formatting. I’m hoping for a resolution so I don’t have to go through this. Thank you for your help—I’d really appreciate any advice.
