Hello, I recently purchased a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro with a 6800h processor and 3070(150w) 32GB DDR5 RAM. In CS GO, I only achieve around 200 FPS on average, sometimes dropping to as low as 100 when using 1280x960 resolution. The laptop is configured to use the dedicated GPU only. It seems many users have shared similar experiences, but it’s unclear if this is typical. Could the CPU be insufficient for the workload? While gaming, performance drops to about 30-40%.
It seems like the issue might be with the system. On Windows 11, some drivers aren't compatible. I discovered an older NVDIA driver that reportedly increased FPS by 100-200, but I can't install it. I also tried another older driver and got a modest boost of around 50 FPS. For 1800 euros I expected it to work smoothly.
You can also review performance data in Afterburner's OSD to see how your CPU cores are doing. Everything you mentioned seems to point to a CPU bottleneck, which is a valid way to assess. Even if other cores are running at lower usage, having just one core operating near 100% can cause overall performance issues. This means the GPU has to wait for that single core to catch up.
