laptop issues with bravo 15 gpu rx5500m connection
hi all, im really confused by this issue, the laptop MSI bravo 15 ryzen 4800h cpu, gpu rx5500m, either does not choose my dedicated gpu RX5500m for games and even for display or the gpu is broken, the system chooses integrated gpu for everything, and all games stutter and freeze after seconds of running, even when disabling the integrated gpu, when i click on display properties it shows unknown graphics display even though the dedicated rx5500m gpu is identified in device manager. clean Windows 11 64 bit. latest bios default bios setting, default windows settings. the system recognizes both integrated gpu and dedicated gpu in device manager. steps i took: removed graphics using DDU installed amd adrenaline, i tried normal setup, minimal setup and even driver only. using amd cleaning utility nothing seems to work, i even reinstalled clean windows installation. it does not seem hardware since the gpu is identified in the device manager, i could be mistaken. your help is appreciated.
Most laptops depend on a component known as a mux switch to allow your screens to work around the integrated graphics. Since your laptop is an entry-level AMD model, it’s likely it lacks one. Your integrated graphics must be configured correctly for any display output. If performance isn’t meeting expectations, verify the GPU settings and ensure drivers are up to date. Disabling the integrated graphics is not a good idea—restore the drivers when necessary.
Yes, everything looks good. Both GPU drivers are set up properly, shown in Device Manager, using the Adrenalin software and without any issues. When playing games like Counter-Strike, it stutters briefly for a few seconds, but the main menu freezes instead of showing fan noise or overheating.
Thanks for your message. It seems the device doesn’t appear to have a MUX, yet the software can still utilize a high-performance GPU. The problem has been stable for about three months now. I’m not sure if it’s related to Windows updates, but it hasn’t improved after a factory reset. It might be a hardware issue.
