Hey there! I've been diving into Linux tech tips a lot lately and really enjoy PC gaming. Used to own an Xbox 360, but now college life means I can't afford those pricey titles or premium memberships. The fix? Steam! In August, my dad mentioned my grades and suggested new laptops for both of us. I went with a Flapple, while you picked an Acer Aspire V3-772G. At the time it looked powerful with a 1080p display, Intel i7, and GTX 760M, though it was bulky at 17 inches. Recently I've faced some performance issues—games lag when running low settings, AC keeps dropping frames until it's nearly unplayable, FIFA 13 stalls after a few matches, and Witcher 2 feels sluggish. The fan gets super hot, background apps freeze, and even with Game Booster it only adds a few extra minutes. I’m trying to figure out how to stop the overheating, but the energy settings don’t let the processor cool properly. I wish GTA 5 would work smoothly now, though I know it’s tough given these constraints. Thanks for your help, and don’t worry about the language—I’ll try to be clearer next time!

Restart the driver installation. Check if that resolves the issue.

AC4 is a highly refined game for Witcher with demanding performance. It's a very intense experience—other titles may be too strong or lead to overheating issues.

Yeah, that's the same. AC 4 plus 760M isn't a good situation. My understanding of the material is really low. Don't listen to what I said.

Remove the dust from your laptop; it seems to be slowing down due to heat issues.

Sure, I should be able to try it. The AC 4 isn't very optimized, which is typical for Ubisoft games, but that's just part of the deal. Regarding GTA 5, I'm not sure about the installation process. Installing a driver for the GTX 760m might be necessary, but I'd need more details to confirm.

Additionally, on my v3 it automatically utilizes the Intel IGPU—make sure to verify.

It seems you're suggesting the need to remove dust from your heatsink.

Through NVIDIA Manager I usually configure games to run on the GPU, yet in the taskbar it still shows Intel HD graphics. Is this an issue or can they operate together?

Opt for the quickest method by checking with GPU Z and watching a game run
