I am buying a Dell D3100 docking station to link my work laptop with my HP 25" monitor that is already connected to my PC. I have questions about using the wireless mouse (Microsoft) and keyboard (Logitech) that are attached to the PC. Can I still use these peripherals when the laptop is docked and using the HP monitor for display? I don’t want to purchase another keyboard and mouse if it’s not necessary. Thank you in advance.

Simply link the keyboard and mouse to the dock rather than the laptop – that’s the essence of “docking.”

I prefer not to constantly disconnect and reconnect the wireless receiver units on my PC to the docking station each day.

The dongle connects to just two devices, and without it plugged in, they can't function. KVM switches often struggle with wireless dongles for mice or keyboards.

If you're keen, Logitech offers a Craft wireless keyboard and mouse compatible with their system, supporting Bluetooth connections to three distinct devices. I own one on my work PC via a dongle, and also use it with my phone and laptop. It features three numbered keys that can be programmed to the device. A straightforward and refined solution for those willing to invest in a different keyboard type.
