Laptop CPU temperature spikes?
Hi everyone! I’ve seen odd temperature spikes (leading to throttling) while gaming, which isn’t usual for me. Even though my laptop stays cool thanks to good cooling, the graph feels less stable than expected. Could it be that the thermal paste needs changing? Since it’s about a year old and the fans are clean, maybe that’s the cause. Check the two graphs and the specs in the PDF below; I own the 3060 model.
It looks like your laptop lacks sufficient heat capacity for the CPU, causing it to overheat and reduce performance. It’s crucial not to treat a laptop the same as a desktop when it comes to cooling—it doesn’t behave the same way. You’ll see better results during the initial days after installation before the thermal paste degrades, but after about a year, performance drops significantly due to throttling.
