My laptop remains powered down even though the AC is connected, and the external SSD shows signs of overheating. The connection via the Thunderbolt port seems to be working, but it feels like a high-speed port rather than a standard USB. Recent searches confirm this is indeed a Thunderbolt port. When should my laptop shut off? The SSD becomes hot over time, forcing me to disconnect the cable constantly so it lasts longer. Any suggestions? Should I adjust the device manager settings to turn off the device for power saving under related ports? My laptop charges the SSD while off, but it overheats and causes unnecessary heat. Isn’t this more likely to cause the drive to fail during an important task?
