Laptop as peripherals?
Laptop as peripherals?
I understand this could seem a bit confusing, but I believe the answer is no. Nonetheless, I’d be glad to offer any guidance or suggestions you might need. I’m considering switching from my current laptop to a new one. I’d prefer a tower setup since I have enough knowledge about hardware and it fits my needs regarding budget and upgrades. Still, I face two main challenges: limited space for a desk in my home and health-related limitations that make sitting comfortably at a desk difficult. On the other hand, I value the portability of a laptop—being able to place it on the sofa, move it easily around, and use it while gaming. My situation involves running a home business and enjoying games in my free time.
My question is: could it be feasible to connect my old laptop to a tower for use as a keyboard and screen? I’m open to advice on how to proceed. If yes, what steps would you recommend?
I can share my laptop’s specifications and the main tasks I perform if that would help.
I'm not entirely confident about your request, but...no.
For using the old laptop as the display and keyboard in a new setup, there are several alternatives available.
I'm not particularly good at explaining things, but I believe you captured the main idea.
I'm willing to hear your ideas. My goal is to find a peripheral arrangement that suits me, since my previous setup was... well, it didn't work out. I've experimented with different layouts using portable tables and monitors, but nothing has been very helpful. The situation gets worse because the only available space is our living room, which isn't big enough for a desk or chair even if I could find something suitable.
A suitable choice could be a compact micro PC attached to the back of a monitor, paired with a wireless mouse and keyboard.
There are various possibilities available.
Beelink is a reliable brand; I own one.

Alternatively, you might consider another, more recent laptop option.
Thank you for your ideas. It seems laptops restrict my capacity to upgrade, which is why I’d favor a tower.
