Laptop adjusts TDP without any input
Laptop adjusts TDP without any input
Hi, your dad’s Asus S300CA has an i5 3337U and an HDD. He’s already replaced it with a crucial MX500. The main issue is the CPU has two TDPs: 14W at 0.8GHz and 17W at 1.8GHz. Even though he sets energy to 17W, it only runs at 0.8GHz, making performance very slow. He found a workaround by switching to energy-saving mode then returning to balanced, but now it’s stuck at 0.8GHz. Anyone know how to fix this? Temperatures are normal and Windows 10 is fresh with no extra drivers except those from updates. No ASUS driver list appears for this model. Thanks in advance!
Are there any power plans named High Performance or ASUS optimized performance? Switching to one of these can enable the CPU to reach up to 1.8 GHz. Download the relevant drivers from the ASUS website (https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/s300...oad/)—most features like Ethernet, BT, Wi-Fi, and GPU are only available for Windows 8 there. If the issue persists, consider updating the BIOS.
The only balanced and energy-saving mode is available; no high-performance option. You're correct about the drivers for Windows 8—though I didn't check it yet, I was focusing on Windows 10. I'll give it a try. Hope this resolves my issue, particularly with that chipset driver.
