We should consider using Juniper devices for both core and edge switches. For the setup, aim for around two switches per row with 12 rows, which brings the total to a manageable number. Also, include one switch for crew and another for stage, plus smaller 24-port ports in the crew area for additional services.
I might consider using the QuantaMesh T3048-LY8 for the primary core switches and the T3048-LY9 for the row switches.
Backplate refers to the mounting plate that holds the antenna in place. Uplink ports are the connections used for sending data from a device to a network.
Currently, switches are not constrained by their backplane. They offer full throughput without blocking.
For fiber, I’d stick with single mode for simplicity but use multimode if the distance from the transmitter to the aggregation is short—generally under 500 meters. You can choose simplex or duplex; they should cost similarly per run.
These days ASICs generally work without blocking in most situations. There are a few exceptions, like modular chassis or certain backplane modules, where failure can lower throughput. Otherwise, switch ports are treated as non-blocking unless specified otherwise.
