I corrected my initial post because I was unsure of the requirements. As part of my RPT, I must show my grasp of servers. I assembled a server road case containing a 64-bit machine, a switch, and a wireless access point. The goal is to connect the case, power on the computer, and link PCs via the switch for LAN gaming. The access point will enable wireless connectivity, which isn’t mandatory but is optional for me. I attempted dhcpsrv 2.4.4 with limited success. What I require is an operating system or software that lets me connect the server to a switch and set up a LAN network. I need a DHCP, DNS client, or similar tool. I’m not sure what the post requirements mean—I’m not very familiar with advanced settings. I think Ubuntu might be suitable, but could use guidance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, D3sl91

Opt for a router instead of an access point. It doesn’t require internet connection, yet it serves multiple purposes. Good idea?

I might have shared it twice, but the page reloaded after I clicked post. Thanks, Lingering—it matches exactly what I need to show my teacher about setting up and maintaining a server. D3sl91, appreciate it, but I wanted something more advanced for my assignment. Thanks again!
