Hello everyone, I've been playing Minecraft for years without any lag issues. I began with version 1.8 and am now on 1.12.2. Even on an old laptop, I never experienced lag spikes. Now I have a brand new gaming PC, but I'm encountering lag spikes even with simple gameplay. I know it's running in the fully Java edition, which might be the cause. Typically, my PC specs require around 60-120 FPS for smooth performance, but I'm now averaging just 40 FPS and experiencing 5 FPS drops every five seconds. I’d really appreciate any advice or help you can provide. Thanks in advance. TinyBuxTom

What are your specs, how much memory do you have allocated to Minecraft, and is Java up to date?

I gave it a shot and it helped a bit. I ended up at around 60 frames per second, though there were noticeable lag spikes every so often. Since I want to experiment with mods, I’m using Forge 1.12.2. Thanks for the response!

Use OptimizeWork with the forge, either download an older release or set up installation yourself.

Yes, you notice performance drops when no mods are active. Your JVM settings enable options to let Java utilize additional memory.

I recommend using a 64-bit JDK instead of the current version. It usually resolves most Java problems I've faced.
