I really don't understand why so many people think Wi-Fi is terrible. Unless I'm using a NAS and need the highest speed possible, I wouldn't want to run an Ethernet cable halfway around the house just for the tiny difference I see in speed tests. Unless your router is near a microwave or something, it shouldn't be that bad. And Ethernet won't work well if the connection in your house is just generally weak or has slow speeds.
If the cable has a plastic clip and produces a clicking sound when connected, it's an Ethernet cord.
