Kubuntu doesn't support my RTX 3080 graphics card.
Operating System: Kubuntu 24.10 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.6.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.11.0-21-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 20 × Intel® Core™ i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz Memory: 31.1 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 630 Manufacturer: ASUS I'm proceeding, team, this weekend marks my switch from Windows to Kubuntu. I’m new to Linux and the installation feels slow when my 3080 is connected. The system monitor shows full CPU load and it takes 2–3 business days to start up. Booting without the GPU works just fine. I searched for Nvidia driver updates but found nothing useful. I saved a .run file from Nvidia but don’t know how to launch it.
During driver acquisition, I navigated to the terminal at https://docs.nvidia.com/datacenter/tesla...index.html.
You're likely using the default setup with Kubuntu. You probably don't need to do anything special to verify it.
I'm really struggling right now. I installed the driver from Nvidia and it seems to be working. However, when I wrote this, I forgot to connect my HDMI cable to the GPU. Also, I can only choose 3840x2160 at 60p resolution. Since I'm using a 4K TV, that's okay for desktop, but Linux says it's the only supported resolution for my display—definitely not what I expected.
You're recalling Kubuntu's various screen resolution options. The specific menu you used likely depends on your current desktop environment and preferences. Have you tried accessing the settings through the application browser or a dedicated control panel?
