You have a new PC with Kubuntu 22.04 running on a big 1TB NVMe SSD as the main boot device. You also have a bigger 2TB SATA SSD for games. When you first set up Kubuntu, both drives were shown to the system and BIOS. After moving everything to the 1TB drive, the 2TB one vanished. The power and data cables look good. Your PC specs are: CPU – AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, GPU – AMD Radeon RX 6900XT, RAM – 32GB (four 8GB), memory stick – G.SKILL Flare X DDR4 3200 MMO. The boot drive is Samsung 980 PRO 1TB NVMe SSD. I’m new to Linux, so think of terminal commands like simple instructions.

Yes, both drives appear in the BIOS settings. Running 'lsblk' displays their details. The SATA drive should fit into a standard SATA port, not a M.2 slot.

Before you put Kubuntu on the computer, you could see both hard drives in the BIOS. After installing Kubuntu on the 1TB NVME drive, the 2TB SATA drive disappeared. The 1TB NVME boot slot fits into an M.2 card, and the 2TB drive goes into a regular SATA port. Note: I haven’t used or connected the 2TB SSD before setting this up. Just remember, I’m totally new to Linux—talk to me like I’m five, especially about those terminal commands!

The lsblk utility displays available storage devices beyond basic details. lspci provides similar information for PCIe components, regardless of type. I suggest executing lspci and reviewing its results. Given your BIOS doesn't recognize the drive, it may not appear in lspci either, but examining both outputs could be useful. On the hardware side, consider repositioning the SSD in question. Do you have any SATA drives (HDDs or additional SSDs) or other PCIe devices connected besides your GPU? If yes, disconnect them and verify if the drive shows up afterward.

First of all, sorry for the delayed reply, I've been super busy these past two days and haven't had the time to sit lay down and dig back into my PC until tonight. Here's what lspci spat out: As for any other SATA devices, I don't have any other than this one 2TB SSD currently installed, but I did have several other unused SATA cables plugged into the ports on the motherboard. I had them in there to make future planned storage additions easier because my GPU completely covers the ports. Just look at that lifted Dodge Ram of a GPU! Anyway, I went ahead and removed all but one of the cables and I'm still not detecting the SSD in OS or BIOS.

I really believe this SSD isn't good.

Occasionally a couple of SATA ports might stop working when using an M.2 device. Refer to your manual for more details. Once the M.2_2 Socket 3 is ready, the SATA6G_5/6 connections will be turned off.

Changing the SATA cable to a middle port worked. Probably wasn’t worth asking for clarification.
