Companies like ASRock and MSI aren’t as affordable as they used to be, so you might be choosing from a brand you wouldn’t normally buy years ago. I think PowMax and Diablotek could start producing high-end CPUs in the future.

It looks like they’ve divided these capabilities into business/workstation lines. All Z690 and Z790 boards should handle 14th gen, but this is still early in their development phase—most makers only offer limited options that ship with 14th gen (unless they include flashback support). I think MSI markets theirs as MAX, Gigabyte adds an X, and MSI’s lineup is quite inconsistent. The premium models typically boast 10Gb LAN and USB 4/Thunderbolt on rear ports, USB PD/fast charging, DP over USB Type-C, and built-in DAC/AMP. For everyday users, the Tomahawk usually suffices, but pushing a 14900KF overclock turns you into an exception—consider the VRM quality, PCB design, and heatsinks on top-tier boards.
