Hello
A family member in the USA might be able to purchase a Memory RAM for Amazon. I own this model on several laptops, including a MacBook Pro 2012, Toshiba and HP Pavilion. It’s just a coincidence. My sister has an HP Pavilion laptop and needs an upgrade, so I tested it by removing both RAMs from one of my machines. The result was successful in the other one. Therefore, the Kingston KVR16LS11/8WP model works with my sister's HP.

On Amazon I found these options:
Kingston 8GB DDR3 Memory, 1600MHz CL11 NB KVR16LS11/8WP
and
Kingston Technology KVR16LS11/8GB 1600MHz DDR3L (PC3-12800) 1.35V Non-ECC CL11 SODIMM Intel Laptop Memory

Compare the two:
KVR16LS11/8WP (needed) vs KVR16LS11/8
The second is cheaper but lacks the WP module. Based on what I know, would it be safe to buy the latter?
Thank you

My sister uses an HP Pavilion La and she needs a RAM upgrade. HP offers many laptops in the Pavilion lineup, but which one does your sister own? If her machine has two RAM slots, choose a 2x8GB kit or a matching stick that came with the laptop. Checking Amazon listings reveals various chipsets and actual RAM density differences. Some sources mention:
https://www.alldatasheet.com/html-p...VR...SH8WP.html
https://www.kingston.com/datasheets/kvr16ls11_8.pdf
that list the same RAM stick, but the manufacturing drawings don’t match the images on Amazon. If you decide to buy two sticks, go for either 2x KVR16LS11/8 or 2x KVR16LS11/8 and proceed. Ensure her laptop is running the latest BIOS before making any hardware changes.

Thank you for your response. The device in question is the "g4-1387la". As mentioned before, it was already verified on one of my laptops using a pair from Kingston's "KVR16LS11/8WP". This means two slots and 2x8GB storage. The main issue here is whether purchasing the "KVR16LS11/8" (without the "WP") part is a viable option. Thanks for providing the links you shared: the datasheet PDFs from Kingston. I also noticed that the images shown are not actual product photos, which is a concern. I have already tested the first pair (2x KVR16LS11/8WP) and it worked perfectly—remembering that I had that configuration in three different laptops, one of which was removed and successfully used on my sister's machine. Given the significant cost difference and the obvious lack of official BIOS support for this model from HP, I am very cautious about buying the other pair ("2x KVR16LS11/8"). Even if it’s not ideal, I’m fairly certain the BIOS for that version isn’t available officially. Appreciate your helpful assistance.
