I just replaced the battery and cleaned the heatsink and fan. It’s unclear if the issue started before or after because my laptop had been non-functional for weeks. After a factory reset, the problem is only with that particular diagonal row not working. I’m looking for guidance on what might be causing it.

The keyboard connection could be loose or damaged; inspect the cable or connector.

On a laptop, the key matrix is usually linked straight to the motherboard using a flat flex cable rather than having the entire keyboard self-contained and connected through USB. If a connection gets disrupted—due to a misaligned, dirty, or damaged flex cable—the keyboard layout may stop working properly. You might have accidentally shifted something while handling the device.

I didn't find any loose links and verified everything.
