Hello, I own an ASUS Zephyrus M16 2023 that I purchased online. I checked everything thoroughly and confirmed it functions properly. Once I transferred the drive from my previous laptop, it worked fine. However, when I loaded it into Windows, it stopped responding immediately. The external keyboard still works. I’ve experienced issues moving drives between devices before, so I thought a full Windows restore—clearing files and downloading updates—might help. But that didn’t resolve the problem. I updated every driver I could think of, reinstalled Windows multiple times, ran hardware diagnostics, and updated the BIOS. The only behavior in Windows is using the function keys when FN is held down (even with fn-lock enabled). The keyboard doesn’t respond at all. Someone has any suggestions? I’m really stuck, especially since drivers are up-to-date and Windows was reset twice. The BIOS test shows the keyboard is working, but it fails in Safe Mode too. Thanks for your help!

Have you tested using an external keyboard and then booting via BIOS? If it functions, it likely points to a BIOS issue. If the external keyboard works, your next move would be to connect a USB drive, install the most recent BIOS version on it, and attempt to update the BIOS from the USB. It seems the BIOS might be the root cause, so updating it could resolve the problem. Good luck!

Thank you for your feedback. An external keyboard functions in BIOS and Windows, while the internal keyboard operates in BIOS but not in Windows. The BIOS has been updated to the latest version, but rolling it back was unsuccessful.

Consider reaching out to the manufacturer of the laptop, especially if it was released in 2023, as they might offer assistance.

It’s the Asus model, and they likely won’t reach out until after the holidays (though I might be mistaken), but I’m certain the laptop is past its warranty period.
