Keyboard functions in BIOS but not during Windows installation.
I’m working on assembling a new gaming setup. During the Windows 11 setup via USB, I reached the update section but couldn’t see my WiFi. Pressing Shift+F10 opened the command prompt, yet nothing appeared. In BIOS there’s a search bar that seems to function, but I can’t locate it. I don’t have another keyboard handy, and swapping ports didn’t help. What should I try next?
I meant to clarify what focus is. Let me know if you'd like a simpler explanation!
I successfully closed the command prompt window using the mouse.
USB is functioning properly. When you press Shift+F10 once more, does the command window reappear? You selected the right keyboard layout during installation? I don’t recall it clearly, but there’s likely a method to access accessibility options inside the installer to enable an on-screen keyboard. It’s a temporary fix that should get you back into a standard desktop environment.
I'm currently at work, so I can't test whether the command window appears again. After skipping that step once before, I selected the U.S./English layout this time.
I found the problem when my WiFi didn’t appear in the connection menu, so I used the command prompt to skip that step and still couldn’t see anything.
