I'm interested in how minimum specifications influence game performance. It seems this varies depending on the situation, and I recall some games that ran well even with very low requirements. If you're significantly below those thresholds, do you notice major drops in graphics quality or possible crashes? Or are both issues present? I haven't tested it myself.

I think meeting basic requirements means it will work, but not at full power. If you fall short of the minimum standards, the game may perform poorly or stop completely. However, some titles push beyond those limits so you can still play despite lower specs. The best way to discover this is by checking how different systems handle running the game.

Indicating lower values could result in less than smooth 60fps performance and possibly some crashes. If that’s what you meant by the question

Not every game delivers a great experience. Basic requirements often result in around 30 frames per second, even at reduced resolutions.

Refers precisely to the essential requirements for playing the game, not implying high-end configurations or expecting smooth performance at maximum settings.

they often don’t say much. The dying light suggested a minimum i5 2500K CPU. With my graphics card and GPU, I could run the game smoothly at 1440p, and even get good performance in medium settings at 4K. However, on both those settings my GPU struggled to keep up.

It depends on the game. Some titles allow launching and playing even at low settings, while FPS games typically run around 20 frames per second or less. Running them at minimum settings can give you about 50 FPS.

1 core, 2 cores, multiple cores – clock speed, improved IPC at lower speeds, etc. For instance, games that specify a clock speed like 2.5Ghz won’t run on my old AMD 4050e even though it has higher IPC; now it’s much harder, but the basic requirements help developers find solutions more easily for bugs or issues they encounter.
