Key issues in Rust performance optimization
I previously played with a potato GPU, then upgraded to an RX 580 4GB OC armor. I expected smoother performance, but it didn<|pad|>'shit hard. From what I know, my CPU might be limiting the GPU, and according to AMD, my CPU doesn’t meet Rust’s minimum specs. I’ve been tracking both GPU and CPU usage, and I see my GPU spike wildly between 100 and 0 to 40, then jumping back up. This is unusual—I usually get around 40–50 frames at the lowest Rust settings on this GPU at 1280x720. My specs are Intel Xeon E3 1245 v1, RX 580 ARM armor, 4GB RAM. I’m okay with 60–70 frames if possible, even at 1080p. I’m puzzled: if the CPU is bottlenecking, why isn’t it using much while I play? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, if I switch to an SSD instead of my current SATA drive, would the game’s performance change beyond just loading times?
It makes sense that the CPU isn't performing optimally, which could explain the low FPS even at lower resolutions. The GPU's unusual usage patterns might also be linked to a CPU bottleneck affecting overall performance.
Lower resolution means less dependence on GPU, while CPU performance becomes more noticeable. This is often described as more "CPU-driven" at lower settings.
Oh ok thank you I have tried putting it up to the max resolution of my monitor which is 1366x768 and it may be better after installing msi afterburner which is strange as I have done nothing in msi afterburner but on radeon panel. I have a slight overclock but thank you for all the help. I see now there is pretty much nothing I can do but upgrade my cpu
