Key issue with OMEN laptop model 15-En0013dx 2020 - problem detected.
A few weeks back I was at a friend's house playing some games on my Omen 15 2020 when I realized my R key wasn't functioning. I thought it was just a restart issue, so I ignored it. Since I usually use an external keyboard, I didn’t notice again until I started using my laptop’s keyboard again. After looking up the problem, it seems this model is known for this issue. I’ve tried all the usual fixes—restarting, removing drivers—but nothing works. Do you know if HP has addressed this before? What other options do I have? It’s frustrating, especially since I’ve had an SSD failure and a power brick problem with this machine. I’m considering switching to a brand that seems more reliable next time. Thanks in advance!
This keyboard isn't working properly; you must get a replacement. It's manageable, but if you're unsure, bring it to a repair service.
Are you checking if it's covered by the warranty? Would you like to initiate a return or exchange? These are typical initial actions after a hardware issue.
That's exactly what I expected. I'm feeling quite sure about swapping out the keyboard, so I'll proceed. Appreciate your feedback!
Hi, I understand your concern. Based on what you've shared, it seems like this issue might be related to the HP Omen 15-en Gen. You've tried turning off the lights and adjusting the keyboard light and R key, but the problem persists. Could replacing the keyboard have helped? Let me know if you'd like further guidance. Best regards.
Hey there, just got the keyboard, though I haven’t swapped it out yet. The r key is back working at least temporarily... If I decide to change it later, I’ll tell you about it.
Same problem again. I think I encountered it in late 2020, but after five months things kept stopping and glitching. Today I saw the middle row from the left all the way to the stopper. Some keys near the right side and bottom also had issues on the right. Such a terrible laptop. The power brick stopped working six months ago too. HP support seems unreliable, and some people just share these articles without much care. There are lots of discussions about this issue, but they need better support and more attention.
I encountered a problem with my Omen 15-ek0000 earlier, so I purchased a replacement keyboard and an uppercase from eBay. It functioned for a few months before the same issue resurfaced with different keys. After reviewing the eBay listing, it didn’t clearly state it was new, so I double-checked that the replacement keyboard is genuine. The white backlighting was only white, not RGB. I’ll look for another keyboard soon and hope you’re lucky!
