Check if your 8.1 product key is still valid. If you have access to the original purchase details, they should list the key. Without that, you may need to contact customer support or look for a recovery option. If you use the key, try searching online for "8.1 product key recovery" or consult the device’s manual.

Upgrade to a newer version, such as 8.1 or later. Using the media creation tool within an older version like Win8.1 will handle the necessary keys for you.

When Windows 8.1 is enabled, simply upgrade and remain active. For a fresh installation, upgrade first and then perform a clean install so the activation key persists.

You can find the ISO for a clean installation by visiting Microsoft's official download page or using the Windows Update feature. Once installed, you'll receive the ISO file to prepare your disk for formatting.

The update process currently displays content in PT-PT, but you can still keep your interface in English. Check the settings or options before downloading to switch back to English.

I just changed everything first, then did a clean install and got the message that my product key isn't valid.

Restart your current Windows version, turn it back on, and then go through the upgrade process once more. That’s what I did, and it functioned properly.
