Hey there! I'm thinking about moving to a 13600k and usually rely on CPU/mobo setups for more than five years. Right now I have a DDR4 3000 CL-15 board. I'm still deciding whether to upgrade my RAM. I use the rig mainly for work and gaming, and while my 6700xt and 1440p resolution won't be a bottleneck, things might change in five years with this setup. For now, I'm considering the GIGABYTE Z690 UD AX with a 13600k DDR4 3000 CL-15 versus a DDR5 5600 CL-36. What performance gains can I expect? How significant would it be to switch to DDR5 if I go that route? Would the extra $200 be worth it on a tight budget? Are there other memory options around $200 that I should look into? And how likely do you think DDR5 will still be useful in five years, so I could reuse it later? Thanks for all the help, and hope you're doing great!

What are your complete system details? Location? Financial limits? Upgrade strategy? DDR5 remains locked behind overclocking, so consider it only if you're ready to push limits; same applies if you already have 32GB DDR4.

I prefer keeping my CPU/Mobo unchanged for five years. I'm unsure how much performance drops if I stick with my current RAM over the next five years, as most benchmarks rely on faster DDR4. I've never explored overclocking RAM, but I'm open to it. My location is Germany, with a budget of 850€. Current setup: CPU i5 8600k, RAM 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000 CL-15, GPU Radeon 6700X, PSU 1500W (though I admit it's a bit excessive; just for future-proofing). My MOBO is ASRock Z370 Pro 4, and my upgrade plan currently lists CPU i5 13600k and RAM 32GB of uncertain type. My MOBO also includes a GIGABYTE Z690 UD AX GPU, which isn't planned for now.

What's the issue? If it's a poor hotbox with no airflow and solid front, think about replacing or skipping the side panel. Check the burner for RAM support and send a screenshot. It looks like an older RAM model, so hope it's not a fake 8GbE setup.

3000CL15 is fine, upgrading to 5600 DDR RAM doesn't seem necessary right now.

I received the Be quiet Dark Base Pro 900 case, which should be fine. Here are the screenshots; I have four 8GB drives and noticed that the kit I bought later comes from a different manufacturer. Thank you for your help!

It's a decent mix, just tweak the frequency to 3200 and that should do it. Performance isn't a big deal here, especially with your dual rank giving you a 20% bandwidth boost over single rank.
