Hi, I understand your situation. You can keep the Windows 8 license by uninstalling the Windows 7 installation from the new laptop. Just remove the Windows 7 setup from the device and then reinstall Windows 8 on that machine. This way, you retain the original license while using the new OS.

I understand she's aiming for a win 7 right now! Haha. The sticker features the Windows 8 logo, but it lacks the key.

It's odd she isn't patient enough, Jesus. Try a dual boot then remove Windows 7 and upgrade to 10 from 8 so you can keep the 7 key elsewhere.
