you're dealing with a tricky situation here. after booting into kali on the physical hdd, internet access lasts only a couple of minutes before disappearing. i've checked firefox and performed git clone, but once it vanishes, the pages stop loading. the ip address 192.168.0.5 remains active even after restarting network manager, and i've tried service smbd, dhclient, and wlan0, but they just confirm the file exists. it seems like the connection drops unexpectedly. the wifi signal is weak, around -50dBm, which might be contributing to the issue. i'm also curious how this compares to my windows 10 setup, which has stable wifi. any suggestions or troubleshooting steps would be appreciated?

Check the device details to identify your wireless chipset. Use lspci or lsusb to view the output for more information.

Are you certain the card is not defective? Have you tested it on a different machine?

Functions properly during the Windows 10 boot process on the same machine as described.
