Kali Linux GRUB failure occurs during boot.
I’ve been attempting to dual boot Kali Linux and Windows 10 for two days now. Although I’ve managed this before, recent issues have arisen. This time it’s a bit different—I’m installing on two separate drives. I’m familiar with the process (disconnect the Windows 10 drive, install Kali on the other, reboot with Windows 10 and run the grub command to recognize the drive), but when I start the graphical installer it tries to boot normally yet encounters a kernel sync error, USB disconnects, freezes, and never completes. I’ve used three different USB drives, tried all installation options (including non-graphical), and even attempted a live boot, but the kernel error persists. I also recently downloaded Kali Linux twice. My MSI gaming plus am4 B350 board has its BIOS fully updated. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I own the same motherboard and it functions perfectly for me. Could we retrieve the complete PC specifications? Sync and USB issues are generally linked to hardware problems, aside from the USB flash drivers; your I/O controller might be defective and you should also encounter problems in Windows. Edit: Have you attempted to re-download the .ISO? Verify the hash.
I've also attempted to re-download, but I keep running into sync and USB issues. The Windows file works correctly when transferred from a flash drive.
Ensure the 10 drive isn’t unplugged; Kali will recognize it and prompt you to add it to your grub. After booting the Linux drive, choose Windows in Grub.
Turn off the AMD graphics card completely in the BIOS settings. It seems the older Debian version Kali may not be compatible with Ryzen processors.
I’ve attempted this before, can you clarify the steps? Since we’re using the same board, it should be manageable.
