You can run Kali on your old Acer laptop by setting up a live USB from a separate HDD. It should work if you configure it properly.

You can insert the running CD into the HDD directly as a live installation. Avoid setting up Kali because its servers are frequently unavailable, making upgrades difficult. Using a USB flash drive is simpler and more reliable. Start a live Linux system from the USB, then apply dd to transfer the ISO file onto the HDD if needed.

It’s not ideal to use an old Kali in Virtual Box. You’ll get better results by installing it straight onto a disk.
