K vs KF CPU
K vs KF CPU
Hey everyone. I'm checking out the latest Alder Lake chips and wondering if using a separate GPU like the 2070S will work with integrated graphics. I'm thinking about running my own GPU alongside it, but the main point is whether the integrated graphics can still benefit from GPU acceleration. Is there any software that supports this setup, or is it mainly for troubleshooting if the integrated graphics don't perform well?
Certain editing software relies on the igpu for decoding formats that current dgpus can't handle. For gaming, the newer models work just fine.
I hadn't realized the GPU was active even though a different GPU was present. Fascinating!
I wasn't aware of that either; it seems they could be quite unusual formats after all.
Intel's QuickSync marketing site highlights several programs that can leverage the iGPU for performance boosts. Regular users might find value in these tools. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...neral.html
relative to your 2070 model, you can run av1 on the 12th generation components, which matches what most YouTube and other major streaming platforms employ. Additionally, formats such as h.265 422 at 10-bit depth are commonly captured by many cameras but require decoding on 11th and 12th generation Intel (and M1) processors.
I favor a K chip over KF just in case my GPU causes issues and I need to depend on the built-in graphics. However, if you don’t mind this feature then KF is better.
