PC specifications: CPU – AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, RAM – Asus Prime B350-Plus, GPU – ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, 8GB, Edition, RAM speed – 2400MHz, SSD – Samsung 850 EVO 250GB, Power supply – 550W EVGA SuperNOVA G3, 80+ rated.
My PC frequently restarts before Windows lockscreen appears. I can enter BIOS and adjust the CPU voltage slightly below 36%, even lower than 34 (which didn’t work). Once in BIOS, I’ve tried changing RAM speed to half of the clock rate but got no improvement. The mouse cursor is sluggish in BIOS compared to when it was first installed at 1600 MHz. I’ve cleared CMOS, flashed new BIOS, updated drivers, reinstalled Windows—nothing resolved the issue. Running with just one RAM stick also didn’t help. I’m stuck and need guidance.
Visit the official ASUS CPU support page for detailed guidance and updates.
Their site has some odd information. On the motherboard specs page, it mentions support for 1st and 2nd generation Ryzen, but for BIOS updates, they claim to include 3rd generation Ryzen because they removed Gen4 support from the Ryzen 3000 lineup.
consider these options: reinstall CMOS, refresh BIOS settings, check Asus support for updated motherboard compatibility.
I attempted the initial two steps. I reached out to ASUS, and I hadn’t considered that. If I don’t resolve this, I might have to purchase a new motherboard, which would be the final resort.
