Just had a laugh at that!
Chose to switch to Windows 11 today. Discovered I required a new BIOS. Returned to update via Windows Update, but encountered mixed messages. Shared the experience since it was just a routine task. Note: The main reason for updating was repeatedly uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe to fix PDF previews in Windows Explorer. Tried all troubleshooting steps from the manual, but after a while the previews stopped appearing. Final attempt was upgrading the operating system.
Windows Update confirms the facts. System compatibility checks only verify if your setup meets basic requirements, not whether everything is fully optimized for Windows 11. You must have TPM (fTPM, Intel PTT or dTPM) activated, SecureBoot enabled, CSM turned off, and UEFI mode active. The main drive needs GPT formatting instead of MBR. Ensure all drivers—chipset, printer, audio, networking—are up to date. Software, particularly games and programs using DRM or Anti-Cheat, should also be Windows 11 compatible. Update them if necessary. Security tools like VPNs and antivirus may not function properly under Windows 11 unless updated. Verify with the vendor; they might support your upgrade from Windows 10 to 11, but if they flag issues during the process, Windows Update will simply state your system doesn’t meet the criteria. Remember to click “Check for update” to refresh the update information.
