jack is here again! - Ghostrunner II Bits & Bobs, Twists & Dodges
Some minor hints are coming up occasionally, as I’m still getting used to the experience. Like many others, I’ve been eagerly anticipating this sequel after the excitement of the first one. It’s refreshing to note that even though the graphics are superior to the original, I can still run it at maximum settings on my older system. This is especially pleasant given how much harder Alan Wake 2 demands your hardware.
This game offers even more impressive maps, sometimes quite expansive, featuring numerous routes and hidden areas to discover. It also makes collecting items much easier, which can boost your effectiveness in combat. Jack now has a dedicated motherboard where you can input skills earned by defeating enemies. Memory shards are also available, increasing the variety of skill categories you can use.
Another positive addition is the new challenges. So far I’ve completed three types: "The Run" and "Shuriken Master." The Run challenges include various obstacles like hoops, dash lines, slides, jumps, and rail glides. The Shuriken Master challenges involve throwing cubes to hit Shurikens. These aren’t just for bragging on medal times; collecting them also gives you memory shards. I’m not certain if a shard is awarded per medal level, but a gold medal guarantees one.
One small downside so far is the collectibles. For swords and gauntlets, I’ve only seen different designs for the same item. In the original, you could find distinct versions of the same weapon and armor. The version I preferred was a rough, jagged steel piece with an icy mist effect. I’m hoping more options will appear in the future, but I’m not relying on it.
Here are some additional videos, offering deeper insights into the game. These provide behind-the-scenes details, the Slasher challenge, and a clip from a combat simulator at the HQ.
