I’m considering purchasing a used workstation and gathering only the essentials. It looks like it could fit within a budget of around $600. Ideally, staying under $1000 would be best, and I believe it’s achievable.

saw two had another model at 4570i5, the GPU depends on your case. I'm not sure about the power needs for an RX 580—maybe around 250W to 350W, and I don't remember it being that long ago. It seems like a no-go for gaming with that setup, though maybe a GTX 750 could work. You might be able to modify the PSU cable later, but it wouldn't be worth the trouble for an OEM unit.
